When you start looking for a good CBD oil, you quickly discover that the choice is enormous. Not only the percentage of CBD differs per bottle of CBD oil, also the type of CBD, the carrier oil and the production process differ. So at Dutch Balance, we often get asked which CBD oil is the best. The answer depends on a number of things. In this article, we list the most important considerations in finding the best CBD oil for you.
The best all-round CBD oil: full spectrum 10%
First, our personal favorite and the CBD oil we recommend to everyone if you have no other preference: Full spectrum CBD oil 10%, for example this one from quality brand Dutch Hemp. This CBD oil has a nice medium strength, making it easy to dose for both mild and more severe symptoms.
Why we prefer a full spectrum formula to broad spectrum? That has everything to do with the small amount of THC that the oil is rich in. Although the content of THC is very low (less than the legal maximum of 0.05%), it has a great influence on the effect of the CBD oil. This is because the THC ensures an optimal entourage effect, which, in short, leads to the CBD and the other cannabinoids in the oil having a maximum effect on your health.
The best CBD oil without THC
For some people it is important that their CBD oil is completely free of THC, i.e. really contains 0.00% THC. This is the case, for example, when you are not allowed to take THC because of work or travel, or in case of hypersensitivity to the substance. In that case, we recommend broad spectrum CBD oil, for example with 5% or 10% CBD. Broad spectrum CBD is also rich in all cannabinoids except THC. This makes the oil slightly less entourage effect, but still ample for a powerful, synergistic effect of all active ingredients.
What is a good percentage of CBD to start with?
As we indicated above, 10% CBD is a nice average percentage for both novice and more advanced CBD users. In fact, per drop, this oil contains 4 mg of CBD. This means that as a beginning user with mild symptoms (recommended: 16 – 20 mg CBD per day) you can take 4 to 5 drops per day, possibly divided over 2 to 3 intake moments.
But are you just starting out and would still like to be able to dose more precisely? Then a lighter oil is also a good option, such as 5% CBD or 2.5% CBD oil. 5% CBD oil contains 2 mg CBD per drop, which means you can take 8 to 10 drops a day of this. Do you opt for 2.5% CBD? Then we recommend 16 to 20 drops per day. In our opinion, this is still just doable. By the way, keep in mind that the price per mg of CBD always increases the lower the percentage. So do you want maximum value for your money? Then we would always choose a stronger oil rather than a lighter one.
Which CBD oil for severe symptoms?
Do you have more severe symptoms, such as chronic pain due to rheumatism or another condition? Then you can safely increase the daily dose to about 70 mg per day. An overdose of CBD is actually not possible, but should you wish to take more CBD per day, we do recommend consulting with your doctor.
For this, we recommend using a medium to strong full spectrum CBD oil, i.e. from 10% to 25%. Our favorite is this Dutch Hemp full spectrum 25% CBD. At 25% CBD, about 7 drops per day will suffice. Do you opt for 10% CBD? Then stick to about 16 – 18 drops per day.
What are the best brands of CBD oil?
To ensure the safety and proper functioning of your CBD, it is important that you choose a reliable CBD brand. A reliable CBD brand can be recognized by making (external) laboratory results of their products freely available. On these test reports (which can be downloaded for free), you can read exactly what substances are in what quantity in a bottle of oil: a very transparent way of working. This not only allows everyone to check that the percentage of CBD matches the manufacturer’s claim, but also that it does not contain too much THC or substances harmful to health.
The brands that do this best, in our opinion, are Dutch Hemp and Wedihemp. In addition to their transparency and reliability, these brands have proven themselves in recent years as producers of CBD oil of absolute #1 quality, at the most competitive price.
Which CBD oil for animals?
Animals can also benefit greatly from the use of CBD. Owners give their four-legged friends CBD to help them with chronic pains and behavioral problems, among other things. In dogs and cats in particular, CBD can do a lot to reduce symptoms and promote overall well-being.
For pets, three things are very important:
- A low percentage of CBD, for easy dosing
- Free of THC and terpenes, as animals do not tolerate these well
- A carrier oil that resonates
In our collections of CBD for dogs and for cats, you will find the best CBD oil for dogs and cats that meets all the requirements listed above.
Which CBD if I don’t like the taste of hemp seed oil?
We ourselves love the delicious nutty taste of hemp seed oil, but at the same time we know that not everyone is a fan of it. Fortunately, there are now good alternatives for those looking for a CBD oil without the distinct nutty taste of hemp seed oil:
- CBD oil with olive oil as a carrier oil
- Water-soluble CBD, so with water instead of oil
- CBD oil with tasty flavors, such as lemon or peppermint
