Jacob Hooy is one of the oldest trading companies in the Netherlands. It began in 1743 as a herb stall on the Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam and has been in the hands of the Oldenboom family since 1846. The original shop in the centre of Amsterdam still exists; the head office and production are these days in Limmen. The brand may call itself Purveyor to the Royal Household.
