CBD oil 5%: mild and precise to dose
CBD oil with 5% cannabidiol is a mild strength. That is exactly why it is a good choice to start with: you can dose very precisely per drop and build up calmly to an amount that suits you. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that occurs naturally in the hemp plant, unlike THC.
Full spectrum or broad spectrum 5%?
Your 5% oil comes in
full spectrum (with all the natural compounds from the plant, including a fraction of THC below 0.05%) and
broad spectrum (the same compounds, but without THC). Every batch is tested internally and externally, with a certificate stating how much of each compound is in it.
How do you dose 5% CBD oil?
Put drops of the oil under your tongue and let it sit for about a minute, so it is absorbed through the mucous membranes. Would you rather put it on a spoon first? That works too. With a 5% oil you can start with three to four drops at a time, two to three times a day. Keep that up for about a week and then build up calmly until you find the dose that suits you.
Frequently asked questions about CBD oil 5%
How much CBD is in a drop of 5% oil?
Around 2 mg per drop. A 10 ml bottle contains 500 mg of CBD, a 30 ml bottle 1500 mg. The exact number is stated with every product. Always work in milligrams and not in drops: that is the only way to compare strengths fairly.
Is 5% enough to start with?
That is exactly why it is a good starting strength. At 2 mg per drop you can dose accurately and build up in small steps. With a stronger oil, one drop is immediately a big jump, which makes it harder to find your own dose.
How many drops of 5% oil a day?
A usual starting point is three to four drops at a time, two to three times a day. Keep that up for about a week and then build up calmly. A handy rule of thumb for your daily total: about 1 mg of CBD per 5 kg of body weight to start with. More about this in
how strong your CBD oil should be.
What is the best time to take CBD?
There is no prescribed moment. What most people do is spread the daily total over two or three fixed moments, morning and evening for instance. Fixed moments make it easier to notice what a dose does for you.
What does CBD oil 5% do for you?
We may not make any statements about that. No health claims have been approved for CBD in the European Union. Webshops that list exactly what CBD would reduce are overstepping the mark. We tell you what is in it and how you dose it. The rest is up to you.
When do you move to a higher strength?
When you notice you need more and more drops of it. Then
10% is more practical: half as many drops for the same amount of CBD. If you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor first. See also
