What to look for with CBD for animals
A dog or cat is not a small human. Three things make CBD for animals different from CBD for yourself, and you see them in what we carry.
Without THC. Dogs and cats are more sensitive to THC than humans. The Dutch Hemp oils for animals are therefore made from CBD isolate and not from full spectrum: 0.00% THC, externally tested per batch. So do not give your animal an oil meant for humans, because that often contains a trace of THC.
A low dose, by weight. The animal oils come in 2% and 4%. The rule of thumb for dogs is three times a day one drop of 2% per 5 kilos of body weight, or one drop of 4% per 10 kilos. For cats you start with the 2% oil, three times a day one drop. Build up slowly and watch how your animal responds; do not draw a conclusion after one day.
A taste the animal accepts. The oils are mixed with salmon oil. Dropping into the mouth is fine, but over the food works better for most animals, certainly for cats.
What CBD does in an animal, we do not say. Research into CBD in animals is still in its infancy and there are no approved claims. If you notice something wrong with your animal, or it takes medication, the vet is the first port of call. They know your animal, we do not.
Dog or cat: what differs?
The oil for dogs and the one for cats share the same base, isolate in salmon oil, but the dose is matched to weight. A four kilo cat is already at the rule of thumb with one drop of 2%; a thirty kilo dog gets three drops of the 4% oil per time. So do not give a cat dog oil without doing the sums, and vice versa. Do not use with pregnant or nursing animals.

How much CBD oil do you give a dog?
The rule of thumb is three times a day one drop of 2% oil per 5 kilos of body weight, or one drop of 4% per 10 kilos. Start lower and build up. Consult the vet if your dog takes medication.
How much CBD oil do you give a cat?
Start with the 2% oil, three times a day one drop, over the food. Build up slowly. Only switch to 4% once you know how your cat responds.
Can a dog or cat have CBD oil for humans?
Better not. Oil for humans is usually full spectrum and contains a trace of THC, which animals are sensitive to. The animal oils are isolate with 0.00% THC.
Will my animal get high?
No. CBD is not psychoactive and the animal oils contain no THC.
Which supplement suits my dog?

When is it better not to give it?
With pregnant or nursing animals, and without consultation if your animal takes medication or has liver or kidney problems. If you notice something wrong with your animal, see the vet first.
