What exactly is CBD oil?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of the more than 400 constituents of the cannabis plant. As with THC, a great deal of research has been done into how it works, but much is still unknown. Research is being done worldwide, but no conclusions can yet be drawn about exactly what CBD does in the body.
CBD is the active constituent of most products you can buy at Dutch Balance. The best-known product is CBD oil, but many people who do not like the taste of oil also take CBD in the form of edibles or as a patch. In principle the way you take it makes no difference to how it works: through the bloodstream it reaches the endocannabinoid system and in that way it plays a part in numerous bodily processes.
Is CBD oil addictive?
We can be brief about this: no. There are no known cases of people becoming addicted to CBD oil. And more importantly, various studies have shown that CBD has no addictive effects. The WHO says about it: “evidence from well-controlled human experimental research indicates that CBD is not associated with abuse potential.” This is mainly because CBD, unlike THC, does not cause a euphoric feeling or a change in consciousness.
Partly thanks to these findings, CBD is legal in the Netherlands. CBD is legal in a large number of countries inside and outside the European Union too, so you can take it on the plane without any problem.
Can you become addicted to CBD edibles or capsules?
What applies to CBD oil also applies to other products containing CBD. Think of edibles, CBD patches and CBD capsules. So you cannot become addicted to these CBD products either. As long as the percentage of THC stays below the legal maximum of 0.05% (as is the case with all our products), you run no risk of becoming addicted and you can use the product safely.
