How much do you take a day?

One capsule a day. Iron is a supplement you should not simply take more of than recommended; too much iron is not desirable. If you are unsure whether you have a deficiency, have it checked by your GP.

When is the best time to take iron?

Iron is best taken with some vitamin C alongside it, which promotes absorption. Do not take it together with coffee, tea or a calcium supplement, as those inhibit absorption.

What is better not combined?

Coffee, tea and calcium inhibit the absorption of iron, so do not take them at the same moment. Vitamin C works the other way round and helps absorption. If you take medication, consult your doctor.

Who is this supplement not suitable for?

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, consult your doctor before taking a supplement. A supplement is an addition to the diet, not a replacement for a varied one. Keep the jar out of reach of children.

Iron is known for being hard on the stomach. This Gentle Iron is a milder form, kinder to the stomach than the classic iron supplements. Handy if you want to top up your iron without it sitting heavily. A jar contains 30 capsules.

What does iron do?

Iron contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body, to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Those are the EU-approved claims. Vitamin C also increases iron absorption, so a glass of orange juice or other food rich in vitamin C alongside it is a practical combination.

Where it comes from

This is a supplement from the British brand Together, which we have carried for some time. Together produces vegan in the United Kingdom to GMP standards and works without artificial binders, colourings, flavourings or fillers. The capsules are plant-based (HPMC) and the brand deliberately chooses a resealable pouch instead of a plastic jar, which saves a lot of plastic.

How do you use it?

Take 1 capsule daily with water. You can combine it with something rich in vitamin C for better absorption. Stick to the recommended daily amount and do not exceed it.
