What is milk thistle good for?

Milk thistle has traditionally been used in herbal practice, but about an effect on health we may assert nothing: no health claims have been approved for milk thistle within the EU. We tell you what it is and how the formula is built up, the rest is up to you.

Silymarin is the most studied component of milk thistle, a complex of flavonoids that occurs naturally in the seeds. Because the body absorbs silymarin only moderately, Together uses a concentrated, standardised form (80% silymarin) plus a phospholipid complex that supports absorption.

How do you take milk thistle?

Two capsules a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon or evening for instance. You can take them with or without food. Stick to the recommended daily amount.

Is there black pepper in it and why?

Yes, a little black pepper extract (standardised to 95% piperine). Piperine supports the absorption of the plant compounds, a common addition in formulas of this kind.

Who is milk thistle not suitable for?

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to plants from the daisy family (such as ragweed) or taking medication, consult your doctor first. Keep the jar out of reach of children.

What is milk thistle?

Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is a thistle plant traditionally used in herbalism. Its most studied constituent is silymarin, a complex of flavonoids naturally present in the seeds. Because silymarin is generally absorbed only moderately, quality supplements often opt for a concentrated, standardised form. We make no statements about an effect on health; there are no approved claims for milk thistle within the EU.

A formula aimed at absorption

Together combines a full-spectrum milk thistle extract (standardised to 80% silymarin) with a silybin-phospholipid complex from sunflower seeds. Phospholipids also occur naturally in our cell walls, so the body recognises them well, which supports the absorption of the plant compounds. An addition of black pepper extract (standardised to 95% piperine) completes the formula.

How do you use it?

Take two capsules a day: one in the morning and one in the afternoon or evening. You can take the capsules with or without food. Stick to the recommended daily amount and do not exceed it.
