A multivitamin for women from the British brand Together, with one capsule a day. The composition is tailored to what women generally need more of: more iron, and folic acid at 100% of the reference intake. Vegan, in a plant-based capsule, packed in a resealable pouch instead of a plastic jar. A pouch contains 30 capsules.
What is in it?
According to the manufacturer’s label, one capsule provides among other things:
- Vitamin D3: 10 µg (200% of the reference intake)
- Vitamin C: 70 mg (88%)
- Vitamin B12: 5 µg (200%)
- Folic acid: 200 µg (100%)
- Vitamin B6: 3 mg (214%)
- Biotin: 75 µg (150%)
- Iron: 10 mg (71%)
- Zinc: 6 mg (60%)
- Selenium: 50 µg (91%)
- Iodine: 57 µg (38%)
- Magnesium: 75 mg (20%)
Plus vitamin E, B1, B2, B3, B5, vitamin K and K2, copper, manganese, chromium and beta-carotene. The full table with percentages is on the packaging; that is what counts, because the composition can differ slightly per batch.
Why a multivitamin especially for women?
Women of childbearing age lose iron through menstruation and therefore have a higher iron requirement. That is why this multi contains 10 mg of iron per capsule. Iron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal oxygen transport in the body. It also contains 200 µg of folic acid. Folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. If you want to become pregnant or are pregnant, discuss the right folic acid advice with your midwife or GP; this multi is not a pregnancy supplement.
The other claims that go with this composition: vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and normal nails.
Where it comes from
Together is a British brand that has been in our range for years. They make vegan supplements in the United Kingdom to GMP standards and have every batch independently tested. The vitamins and minerals come from a plant extract blend (including guava leaf, amla, lichen and fermented chickpea) with chlorella and spirulina. The capsule is plant-based (HPMC) and there are no artificial binders, colourings, flavourings or fillers.
How do you use it?
Take 1 capsule daily with water at a meal, preferably at breakfast. The fat-soluble vitamins D, E and K are absorbed better with some fat, and the B vitamins suit the morning better than the evening. Stick to the recommended daily amount. If you also use a separate iron or calcium supplement, first read
which vitamins can you take together.
If you take medication or have a medical condition, consult your doctor first. Keep out of reach of children.
