Black pepper contains piperine, a compound that supports the absorption of curcumin. That is why many turmeric supplements contain a little black pepper extract, and why it also helps to take your turmeric with a meal containing pepper and fat.

How is a turmeric supplement best used?

Take it with a meal containing some fat, because curcumin is fat-soluble. Keeping to a fixed moment in the day makes it easier to stick with.

Can turmeric leave stains?

Yes, curcumin is a strong yellow dye that can stain hands, clothing and worktops. In capsule form you will notice little of that with normal use; so it is better not to open the capsule over a light-coloured counter.

Who is turmeric not suitable for?
