Vitamin K2 in the MK-7 form, plant-based and with one capsule a day. According to the manufacturer’s label, one capsule contains 120 micrograms of vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7, which is 160% of the reference intake. A pouch contains 30 capsules. From the British brand Together, in a resealable pouch instead of a plastic jar.
What does vitamin K2 do?
Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting and to the maintenance of normal bones. Those are the approved EU claims, and they apply to vitamin K in general, so to K2 as well. Other statements you read about K2, for instance about blood vessels or about “directing” calcium, are not approved and we do not make them here.
Why MK-7?
Vitamin K2 exists in several forms, of which MK-4 and MK-7 are the most common in supplements. MK-7 stays in the blood longer than MK-4. That is why one capsule a day is enough to keep the level up. Together uses all-trans MK-7 from fermented chickpea, a plant-based alternative to the classic source natto.
Vitamin K2 and vitamin D3
K2 is often taken together with vitamin D3, because both carry an approved claim about the maintenance of normal bones. You can combine them separately, or choose one capsule with both: the
vitamin D3 and K2 capsules by Together. If you want calcium with it too,
Bone Aid combines calcium from seaweed, D3 and K2 in one product. Calcium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.
How do you use it?
Take 1 capsule daily with water at a meal containing some fat. Vitamin K is fat-soluble; the capsule already contains coconut oil, but a meal with fat helps absorption further. The time of day does not matter. Stick to the recommended daily amount.
If you use blood thinners or other medication, or have a medical condition, consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting vitamin K2. Keep out of reach of children.
